Why I Started a Blog
I am far from a perfect person or Christian. I am nobody special. So, what makes me think I am qualified to start a blog? Well, I have God-confidence and can show you how to get it, too.
The truth is, I am not qualified. I have no confidence in my abilities or qualifications. I am a regular person: a wife, mom, grandma, teacher, and a Christ follower. But I have walked through a lot of life and learned that God is on my side no matter what. So, my confidence in beginning this blog comes not from my abilities but from God.
Everyone Struggles
I know what it is like to walk through difficult times. I’ve endured the loss of a child, depression, divorce, the loss of a job, car accidents, and severe illnesses requiring hospitalizations. The crazy thing is, when I look back, I have found that these dark times caused me to grow closer to the Lord. I am always able to see how He was there, walking right beside me. Additionally, in the end, He has used them as part of His good plans for my life.
I believe from the bottom of my heart that God does NOT cause life’s struggles. He does not allow us to walk through them in order to teach us a lesson or to punish us. After all, His word says: “. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NIV)
You see, even Jesus struggled. “He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”(Isaiah 53:3, ESV)
In fact, the world persecuted, scorned, beat, and hung Jesus on a cross. But He did this for us! The most famous bible verse of all tells us why . . . because He loves us! “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NIV)
Why the World Needs Jesus
Jesus didn’t just come to save us and give us eternal life. He came to provide us with so much more! Jesus came to forgive us and free us from guilt and shame. He gave us His righteousness and guided us through His Holy Spirit living inside us. He came to show us how to get God-confidence.
However, I always felt unworthy of forgiveness. I knew I was too angry, had always made the wrong choices, and didn’t deserve freedom. But apparently, I am not alone. The Bible says, “No one is right with God, no one at all. No one understands. No one trusts in God. All of them have turned away. They have all become worthless. No one does anything good, no one at all.” (Romans 3:10-12, NIV)
That’s why it is essential to read the bible in context. If you keep reading John, it says. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned” (John 3:17-18a, NIV)
Receiving Jesus Is How To Get God-Confidence
We receive forgiveness, freedom, and eternal life just by believing in Jesus. No amount of good deeds can earn it. And even our worst deeds can keep us from receiving it. Ephesians explains it this way: “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions . . . For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2: 4-5a, and 8-9, NIV)
How, then, do you get these gifts? Romans 10 explains it this way. “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” (Romans 10:9-10, NIV)
If you need all Jesus has to offer, I’d like to give you a chance to decide. Maybe you’ve never done that before or aren’t sure where you stand. You don’t have to make promises about what you will stop or start doing. Nor do you don’t need to convince Him you are worthy. You only need to decide in your heart to believe in Him, then speak, or pray, the words aloud.
Let’s pray and Gain God-Confidence
Let’s pray this prayer out loud together. It is based on Romans 10. Dear Father God, I ask You to forgive me of my sins. And I ask you, dear Jesus, to come into my life. Come into my heart. And be my Lord and my savior. I believe that Jesus is the son of God, that He died for me, and that He rose again. And I thank Him for that. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
Please let me know if you prayed that prayer for the first time or recommitted your life to the Lord. You can either leave a comment or contact me directly. I would love to pray with you and come beside you as you begin your journey with God.
